With generous sponsorship by General Motors Research and Design, Falcon Engineering and Design Solutions, FEDS 201 Rochester HS Robotics Team, is a hands-on approach to engineering and technology, including participation in regional and national US FIRST Robotics Competitions. 2008 competitions are set to take place at the Great Lakes Regional in Eastern Michigan University; Boilermaker Regional, Purdue University; and the US FIRST Championship Competition, Atlanta, GA.   The program involves 37 diverse students in CAD Design and animation; programming; electrical electronics, mechanical build, carpentry and other areas.

In this year’s game, “FIRST Overdrive,” the FEDS 201 robots is designed to race around a track knocking down 40" inflated Trackballs and moving them around the track, passing them either over or under a 6'6" overpass. Extra points are scored by robots positioning the Trackballs back on the overpass before the end of the 2 minute and 15 second match.
